BASQUE TEAM: Seeds planted through language interchange

March 22, 2009

We had some great conversations that were spiritual in nature and they showed interest, but have no clue about Jesus as a personal Savior.

We taught them English by group and one on one conversations, using material provided by our friends from IMB.

We all are very exhausted, had no internet, and poor cell phone coverage.

Will try tomorrow to post some photos.

Keep praying that the seeds planted will grow.

BASQUE TEAM: CHATS

March 19, 2009

Wednesday night update:
We had English speaking CHAT sessions with 3 Basque women -  Koro, Maricarmen, and Milagros.  Koro was a divine appointment.  We met her last June, had dinner with her and a friend of hers.  We also met with Derek - our missionary contact here, and the IMB journeyman Esther.  Tomorrow we will go to orientation.
More to follow,
Thanks for your prayers.
Bob and the team

Spain Update - June 11, 2008

June 12, 2008

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for your continued prayers for us. As the week has progressed, the Lord is answering our prayers for wisdom and giving us what we believe to be His perfect plan for beginning to reach the Basque people of Donostia/San Sebastian and the surrounding towns. The team has been praying much on-site for the people and getting some keen insights into their culture and spiritual climate.

Wednesday was spent in the city of Blibao (about an hour east of our base city). There are over a million people in that urban center, and it is a hub of Basque culture and commerce. We got to visit the world-famous Guggenheim Museum of modern art while we were there, and we prayerwalked through the center of the city.

Thursday will take the team to the small Basque town of Hondarribia, about half an hour from our hotel, and we also hope to meet with and hear some noted Basque musicians. Our plans also include a visit with another IMB missionary couple in this city.

Please continue to pray for strategic insight into keys to reaching the Basque people, as well as further contacts with “people of peace” who are open to spiritual conversations.

Serving Jesus,
Lawrence, Ed, Susan, Bob, and Lourdes

Spain Update - June 9, 2008

June 9, 2008

Thank you for your continued prayers for our Basque Vision Team in Spain.  We’ve had excellent times of prayerwalking and sharing ministry ideas for future teams over the past couple of days.  On Sunday we gathered for a devotional time with missionaries Jim & Debbie Merrill in their home, and then we went out to the nearby Basque villages of Aya and Oria, where we also interceded on-site and got further insight into the Basque culture.  Monday was spent prayerwalking in two major sections of Donostia/San Sebastian (where we are staying).  We divided into three teams for morning and afternoon walks so that we could cover more ground.  The time was spiritually profitable, and Bob & Lourdes Vigoren also met a person of peace in one place.  His name is Pachi, and they got his contact information for future follow-up.

Please pray for us again on Tuesday as we travel to Tolosa, an historic Basque village about 15 miles away.  We will also cover another major section of Donostia/San Sebastian in the afternoon.

Everyone is doing well physically and is in good spirits.  We’re having a wonderful time together too!  You can see more photos from the past couple of days at:
