Mali Team Report 5-22-09 PM
May 22, 2009
Keith Arnett reported that the team reached Mali without any problems this afternoon. They left Kedougou, Senegal this morning (not too early after their VERY long day yesterday) and drover over very good roads into Kenieba, Mali. There they met the three translators who will be joining them for the rest of the trip. By the time they got their supplies it was too late in the afternoon to head out to the villages. They elected to spend the night in Kenieba and leave early on Saturday morning for the villages. Everything takes longer than expected in Africa, but there were no problems to cause this delay. Their drivers and translators are all really good on this trip, so that is a definitie praise! Each team member is still in great spirits and in good health. It is very hot there, but thankfully the air conditioners work well in both vehicles. They had one river crossing today that was completely dry.
Please pray for safe travel to the villages on Saturday morning. Keith Arnett will go one direction with Kevin Dicken, Pastor Bart, and another African brother to Village “L”– about eight hours +. Tim Dicken will go with Alisa Arnett, Mary Lord, and two translators (a man and a woman) to Village “X”– about three and a half hours. Their next report will come on Saturday after they reach the villages.
Mali team report — May 21 late PM
May 21, 2009
The team called in two reports (click on the links above) on Thursday afternoon, May 21. They arrived in Dakar about 4:30 a.m. their time, and they set out for a LONG day of driving. After a four-hour stop for lunch that included a serendipitous time of fellowship with Audrey, a missionary with New Tribes Mission who has lived and worked among the Yalunka people of Senegal for about 25 years, whom they “happened” to meet while stopped beside the road for a short break. They have good vehicles and drivers this time, so the auto travel was without incident. They reached the hotel in Kedougou, Senegal about 11:00 p.m. their time. Everyone is well. Pray that they rest well tonight. They plan to reach the villages in Mali by Friday evening.

Mali Mission Team Prayer Guide – May 2009
Please pray for the five members of First Baptist Church of Keller’s May Mali Mission Team:
- Keith Arnett (team leader)
- Alisa Arnett
- Tim Dicken
- Kevin Dicken
- Mary Lord
They are on the airplane on Wednesday morning (May 20) traveling to Atlanta, Georgia and then on to Dakar, Senegal. They are scheduled to land in Africa a little before midnight on Wednesday night (Texas time). They will immediately begin a 12+ hour drive across Senegal toward Mali. Please pray for their safety and health during travel.
Also, please pray each day that the team will. . .
- Gain wisdom to understand God’s purpose and plan (Colossians 1:9-14)
- Have a heart for the lost (Matthew 9:35-38)
- Have a sense of personal sin and confession (1 John 1:5-10)
- Not grow weary in well-doing (Galatians 6:9)
- Have a true vision for God’s work in their hearts (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12)
- Have a burden to pray (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Please pray for these specific Yalunka villages in the following ways:
VILLAGE “F”
- That the Holy Spirit will draw those who have heard the gospel to repentance and personal faith in Christ
- That growing relationships will bear fruit for God’s kingdom
- That village resources will be used for the gospel
VILLAGE “X”
- That God’s word will be clearly proclaimed and understood during the teaching times
- That the villagers will follow through with their commitment to meet as a church on a regular basis
- That biblically-qualified leaders and evangelists will emerge from this village
VILLAGE “K”
- That more people will respond in faith to the gospel message
- That the believers will be strengthened by the truth
- That the gospel story and basic doctrinal truths will be learned by many
VILLAGE “Y”
- That the church will continue in celebration, worship, and learning
- That biblically-qualified leaders will emerge from this church
- That a good reader will be found to lead the group in the written Bible lessons
- That still more people will follow Jesus as His disciples
VILLAGE “L” (the new village that the April team first visited)
- That God will bless the faithful remnant of believers
- That the chief will have a clear vision and ambition for building the church in his village
- That many others will find salvation in Christ
The reports from this trip will be a bit different from those of past trips because the teams will be in two vehicles. They will go in two different directions from Kenieba, Mali (not meeting back up until the last day in the villages). You may get a report from one team and then receive another report soon thereafter from the other team. They will return to Texas on Sunday, May 31.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS FOR THIS TEAM!
