For Lawrence’s live report mali-report-01-16-09-pm

Lawrence called earlier this evening ago and we spoke for a long time.  He is in very good humor, optimistic, encouraged & encouraging.  The team is doing great, also… just need to get some rest.
Pastor Bart said that The Church in Village Y is strong and has developed some structure.  (Many of you have been praying for specific families from this village.)  He said that the believers in Village Z remain strong in the faith, but need help in establishing a structured organism.  All-in-all, Pastor Bart is encouraged and excited to see the Faith growing among the Yalunka, and has made great contributions in visiting and teaching while we’ve been away.

TRANSCRIPTION

This is Lawrence calling from Village Z in Mali with the Yalunka people.  It’s 10 o’clock at night over here on Friday.  We arrived about 2 hours ago in pitch darkness.  The roads are overgrown in tall grass and we passed through some fires along the way - they were burning down some of the grass - to get here.

Fifty-one hours after we left Texas we arrived in the first Yalunkan village and were greeted warmly by our new Christian brothers and sisters here.  Sadly, we found out that one of the older men who received Christ and has been very faithful to Christ [Demba the hunter] his wife passed away 3 months ago.  We shared with him and encouraged him that because she believed in Jesus that she’s in Heaven now and one day they will be together again.  That was a real encouragement to him, especially when we provided a picture to him of her that he hadn’t seen in a long time.

Now, about 30 people from this village are gathered around watching a 7″ portable DVD player with The Jesus Film.  [unintelligible]  We will encourage them once again after the film is over.

Everyone is well.  We had a wonderful dinner with our Yalunka brothers and sisters here.  We’re excited and very excited to be in the village to see what God is about to do on the rest of this trip.

Thank you so much for praying for us, and God bless you.
